Dental health is a very important part of one’s general health. Recent studies tend to link oral bacteria to heart disease; more investigation is needed. There is a possibility that oral bacteria have been the main offending pathogens in deaths due to pneumonia in the elderly.

Dentistry is a partnership between the office staff and the patient to achieve the highest level of health possible. Existing disease is treated in the best way possible and sound principals of prevention are used to keep future disease at the lowest levels. This cooperation between our office and our patients result in low dental expense.

As in medicine in general, the reliance on drugs alone to treat disease is not enough in too many cases. I have a special interest in complementary medicine to enhance the practice of dentistry. Acupuncture and the related natural medicines are very effective in both acute and chronic conditions when suitable. As a licensed acupuncturist, I can treat any problem outside of dentistry that I am confident of being helpful. I have interest in headaches, teething problems, TMJ, digestive complaints, and untreated pain syndromes, etc.

I use acupuncture instead of local anesthetics for patients who do not wish the injections. The patients need to be selected in terms of calmness and higher levels of pain thresholds.

The natural homeopathic medicines associated with acupuncture can be very useful in helping allay the fear of going to the dentist.
